"Misunderstanding the pH Alkaline That Could Harm You"! Dr. Eric Berg

How Does Apple Cider Vinegar fit into the alkaline pH balance equation?

There is a myth that apple vinegar has a lot of nutrients...
Apple Cider Vinegar doesn’t have vitamin much A, C or minerals if any.

Apple cider vinegar DOES have acetic acid, which is the key ingredient.

In fact, the reason why vinegar works for so many conditions is due to this one acid: acetic acid.
I know this is against what most of you have heard, right? You've probably been told most people are too acid.
Many of my clients that come into my office are excessively too alkaline, not too acid.
The first thing to understand is...

Every part of your body has different pH levels.
So, when a person says that you are too acid you should ask, “What pH are you talking about – is it the urine or the saliva?”
The real true indicator of PH for the body should be in the blood, but it is very difficult to test. As soon as you take the blood out of the body it oxidizes and can change the pH right away.
You have to go by the symptoms to determine the PH. If you want to know all the symptoms for too much acid or acidosis and alkalosis, I created a chart below:
Most people who are stressed and have the Adrenal Body Type have a blood pH that is excessively alkaline. Yes, it’s true that your blood should be slightly alkaline.
However, when the blood is overly alkaline use the apple cider vinegar; it works so well because it corrects your pH.

If you can change your PH even slightly it creates huge effects.

  1. The pH is so important in transporting minerals and allowing enzymes to work to stimulate the thyroid and increasing metabolism.
  2. The pH of acetic acid is very acidic - it’s 2.5, which is almost the same as stomach acid. Apple cider vinegar is really good for the stomach and some people take it for heartburn.
Heartburn, acid reflux and indigestion is a condition where your stomach is too alkaline and the stomach valve on top does not close.

I know people will say, “Heartburn is too much acid.”
No, that is not true.
In fact, if you have acid reflux or heartburn, just take some apple cider vinegar and see how much better you feel.
You will feel wonderful because the stomach valve will start closing if the stomach acid is strong.
But as you age, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, your pH in your stomach goes higher and higher – higher means more alkaline.
You need more acid as you age to be able to digest protein and absorb minerals like calcium, magnesium, iron, etc.
Calcium may also start building up in the soft tissues, so you will have the soft tissue calcification.
You may see when people get older they become stiff and they get:
  • Arthritis
  • Bursitis
  • Calcium builds up in the eyes which are called cataracts.
  • On the nerves, neuritis.
  • Kidney Stones
  • Gallstones
  • On the teeth there is tartar.

All of these can come from a pH problem or alkalosis.
Another thing I do is make sure a patient is taking fat-soluble vitamins to help transport that calcium out like vitamin D and K2.
What Causes This Alkaline State
High cortisol or high stress causes alkalosis. It makes your body too alkaline. (Ciba Collection Volume 4 Endocrine System by Frank H. Netter)
The worst thing you can do is start drinking alkaline water.
It’s ok to drink water that already has alkaline in it, but don’t go over to an 8 or a 9 because you will make your body worse and you won’t be able to absorb calcium and other minerals.
With your adrenal as you become too stressed overtime and too alkaline, you start to lose this little thing called H+.

H+ is an acid.

In other words, the adrenal causes you to lose acid through the urine and becomes too alkaline.
So, here are all the effects that stress can create:
  • An Alkaline Body
  • Lack of Absorption of Calcium
  • Twitching of the left when stressed because of the change in PH
  • Cramping in the calves.
  • Nerve pain or neuritis.
  • Loss of Acid
  • Loss of Potassium
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Constipation
  • The feeling of Weakness or Fatigue
  • Irregular Heartbeat
 Apple Cider Vinegar Benefits
When you hear these stories that apple cider vinegar can cure many of these symptoms because of the beneficial acid and the retention of potassium.
People that consume a lot of protein drinks or eat too much protein will have waste chemical from the protein called Guanidine. This is extremely alkaline.
If you are doing the ketosis diet where you are eating more protein, you may feel stiff or more arthritic.  Drink apple cider vinegar – it flushes the protein waste out.
Apple cider vinegar is the anecdote of the residue from high protein – it’s a really good cleanser.
The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar helps:
  • Absorb Minerals
  • Mobilize Calcium
  • Digest protein better without the waste.
  • The Immune System
You’ve heard of people taking vitamin C for colds or for a virus infection.
Most vitamins like vitamin C are fake, made from Chemicals and Cornstarch...
The reason why fake vitamins like vitamin C works is because of the acid, not the fake vitamin C benefit.
You would be better off taking the apple cider vinegar with the acetic acid to help with your immune than taking fake vitamins like vitamin C.

The Cranberry Drink Recipe
This is my own concoction that I drink pretty often and it has apple cider vinegar in it.
If you drink this before you eat it will help you to lose weight.
This drink stimulates the thyroid and acidifies the stomach.

Directions:

I recommend that you don’t use the cranberry if you already have a slow metabolism, instead just add the apple cider vinegar and lemon.
